POSITION TITLE: Communication Assistant

DURATION OF CONTRACT: 5 months (renewable for another 5 months)
DUTY STATION: ACB Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines

TERMS OF REFERENCE
A. BACKGROUND
The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), established in 2005, is ASEAN’s response to the challenge of biodiversity loss. It is an intergovernmental organisation that facilitates cooperation and coordination among the ASEAN Member States (AMS) and with regional and international organisations on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of such natural treasures.
The ACB is seeking dynamic, innovative, and committed candidates for the position of Communication Assistant under the Communication Department to assist the ACB in raising awareness of the value of conserving the ASEAN region’s biological resources.
B. SCOPE OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Director for Communication, and in coordination with the relevant Communication Division, the Communication Assistant will performthe following tasks:
- Assist the Director for Communication in day-to-day operations, schedules, and tasks.
- Provide administrative and communication support to the Communication Department.
- Organise and maintain the department’s central document repository and filing system.
- Assist in editing/reviewing ACB publications: promotional materials, policy briefs, proceedings, reports, etc.
- Provide support in the implementation of physical and virtual exhibits.
C. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Communication, Communication Arts, Journalism, or related field of study; or Non-related Bachelor’s Degree with at least two (2) years of related work experience
Work Experience
- Relevant work experience in communication, office administration, and project management is an advantage
- Related work experience with an international organisation is a plus
- A good working knowledge of environment and biodiversity issues in ASEAN is an advantage
