From August to September 2026, the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity’s Small Grants Programme (SGP) conducted a two-part writeshop to develop effective communication, education, and public awareness (CEPA) strategies for its third phase—Small Grants Programme III (SGP III): Strengthening Biodiversity Conservation and Community Resilience.
The writeshop brought together participants from ACB’s Communication, Programmes, and Biodiversity and Knowledge Management Departments to review successful CEPA initiatives from SGP I and II and identify key messages, communication materials, and channels aligned with SGP III’s objectives.
Building on lessons from previous phases, the activity aims to strengthen strategic communication to foster information dissemination, community engagement, and knowledge sharing among stakeholders, thereby contributing to achieving the overall goal of the programme.
SGP III is an initiative of the ACB, with support from the Federal Republic of Germany through the KfW Development Bank and the European Union. From 2026 to 2031, the programme will invest in biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community resilience across five ASEAN Heritage Parks (AHPs) and protected areas, namely the Prek Toal Ramsar Site and Virachey National Park in Cambodia, the Xe Sap National Park in Lao PDR, the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park in the Philippines, and the Bach Ma National Park and Hue/Quang Nam Saola Nature Reserves in Viet Nam.
