ASEAN Flyway Network
Background
Flyways support diverse ecosystems that are essential not just for the survival of migratory birds, but for people and the planet as well. Recognising this importance and the need for regional collaboration for the protection and conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats, the ASEAN Flyway Network (AFN) was established in March 2017 with the endorsement of the ASEAN Working Group on Nature Conservation and Biodiversity.
The AFN is a regional platform and collaborative effort by national focal points, flyway site managers, experts, and other key stakeholders. It aims to ensure the survival of migratory birds and the sustainability of their habitats within Southeast Asia by increasing the capacity and enhancing communication on wetlands and migratory birds in the ASEAN Member States.
