    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : General Services Officer

    TERMS OF REFERENCE

    A. BACKGROUND

    The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), established in 2005, is ASEAN’s response to the challenge of biodiversity loss. It is an intergovernmental organisation that facilitates cooperation and coordination among the 10 ASEAN Member States (AMS) and with regional and international organisations on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of such natural treasures.

    The Centre is looking for a Utility Staff who will work with the existing staff in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the ACB Headquarters.

    B. SCOPE OF DUTIES

    Under the General Services Division of the Finance and Administration Department and supervision of the General Services Officer, the Utility Staff is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and functionality within the assigned area. The Utility Staff is expected to supports daily operations by ensuring the upkeep of facilities, assisting with logistical needs, and providing general support to the ACB. Specifically, the Utility Staff will perform the following:

    1. Cleaning and Maintenance
      ● Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal.
      ● Ensure restrooms, assigned areas, and common areas are sanitised and well- maintained.
      ● Report repairs or maintenance issues to the General Services Officer.
    2. Equipment and Supplies Management
      ● Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and tools as needed.
      ● Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners or floor polishers.
    3. Logistics Support
      ● Assist in setting up and organising events, meetings, or workspace changes (e.g., arranging furniture or equipment).
      ● Support the transport and delivery of materials or supplies within the premises.
    4. General Assistance
      ● Provide support to other staff members by executing minor errands and tasks.
      ● Respond to the immediate requests pertaining to cleanliness of the Centre.
    5. Adherence to Safety Standards
      ● Follow workplace health and safety protocols while carrying out duties.
      ● Ensure cleaning chemicals and tools are used responsibly to prevent accidents.
    6. Perform other related tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor(s) from time to time.

    C. QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Work Experience
    ● High School Graduate/Grade 10 with two (2) years related work experience; or its equivalency requirement
    ● High School Graduate/Grade 10 and TESDA on Housekeeping NC II or Certificate of Competency with one (1) year of related work experience.
    ● At least two (2) years of work experience in housekeeping and/ or related works

    ● Attention to detail.
    ● Time management and organisational skills.
    ● Ability to follow instructions and can work independently or as part of a team.
    ● Good interpersonal skills to interact with staff effectively.
    ● Capable of efficiently using and operating a variety of tools and equipment.
    ● Ability to communicate in English.
    ● Capability to sustain physical tasks, including repetitive activities, along with the strength to lift or transport lightweight items.
