Objectives
The overall goal of the Cambodia workshop is to enhance regional capacity, promote better understanding, and strengthen cooperation in the ASEAN region by providing a venue for information sharing of up-to-date scientific information on emerging areas of biosafety and risk assessment.
Specific objectives are:
1. Promote better understanding of the biodiversity provisions of the
Cartagena Protocol;
2. Provide an opportunity for information exchange among the ASEAN Member
Countries regarding each country’s National Biosecurity Strategy (NBS);
3. Enhance the national and regional capacity of the workshop participants
in conducting risk assessment of GMOs/LMOs; and
4. Strengthen regional coordination and cooperation among ASEAN Member
Countries in addressing biodiversity issues.
Expected Output
The output from the workshop will include workshop proceedings, policy brief, and short workshop report for each session.
