ACB set up an exhibit during the ASEAN Summit in January 2007 in Cebu, Philippines.

 

2006

The 1st  Meeting of the Governing Board of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) was held on 11 – 13 January 2006 in Pasig City, Philippines. During the meeting, the following were discussed;  Agreement on the Establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, and the European Community Contribution Agreement with the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity; Host Government Agreement; Financial and Administrative Manual of Operations for ACB; Recruitment Procedures for Key Officers of the ACB; Work Plan and Budget of ACB for 2006; Role and Function of the ACB Transition Team and the Philippines; Corporate Identity of ACB; and Ratification of the ACB Agreement

At the 2nd Governing Board (GB) meeting in Singapore, in May 2006 two (2) candidates were selected to be appointed as Director-Biodiversity Information Management (BIM) and Director –Networking, Partnership and Resource Mobilization (NPR).

The two directors officially reported for duty on September 2006 and th Director –NPR subsequently appointed by the GB to assume the position as Acting Executive Director on 12 October 2006.

The 3rd Governing Board Meeting was held on 7 November 2006 in Cebu, Philippines and ACB’s 2006 4th Quarter  Work Plan and Budget was approved while the 2007 Annual Work Plan was approved in principle.

 

2005

The ASEAN Ministers Meeting on the Environment (AMME) acknowledged the contribution of the project ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (ARCBC)  in addressing biodiversity issues and challenges.  This led to their agreement 27 September 2005 during the 9th Informal AMME held in Manila, Philippines to establish a successor organization to be known as ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) with the Government of the Philippines offering to host the ACB.

During the period February 2005 to September 2006, the ACB was managed by a transition team headed by a chairperson and six detailed staff of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) under the supervision of ASOEN Chairman, Philippines
